Under the Department of Labor's Final Rule on Annual Reporting and Disclosure, all
Form 5500 Annual Returns/Reports must be filed electronically. Under the all-electronic EFAST2, filers choose between using EFAST2-approved vendor software or the EFAST2 web-based
filing system (IFILE) to prepare and submit the Form 5500 or Form 5500-SF. Completed forms are submitted via the Internet.
EFAST2 electronic credentials must be obtained to sign and/or submit the Form 5500 or Form 5500-SF, or to prepare a
return/report in IFILE. EFAST2 electronic credentials can be obtained by registering.
EBSA will list on this Web site the private sector companies who have developed software that has been approved for use
in transmitting and/or completing the Form 5500 and Form 5500-SF under the EFAST2 system. EBSA has approved some companies for all Form 5500 forms and schedules and, in response to requests, provides limited approval for other companies as described on this webpage.
